Turning off the crosshair when using other tools

Is there anyway of turning off the temporary crosshair when using the other tools such as: line, Ray, etc... I know in older versions this was not the case. I have been using build version 1295 for this reason, but feel that there are many other new functions that I may want to use. Any light that you could shed on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
