Hi all, need help to create a working formula (tried a lot but no result). My knowledges concerning programming are limited therefore I'd like to use the Study "Color Bar based on Alert...". Please take a look on the attached file. - it shows the pattern I am looking for. I am Using the following studies: 1. EMA = ID1.SG1 2. Swing High/ Low= ID2 H=SG1, L=SG2 3. PatternFinder ID3 - Engulfing Pattern =SG1(red arrow), Doji Pattern = SG2 (blue arrow) The condition should be: 1. 3 higher lows (in row) 2. Engulfing should follow 3. Doji should follow 4. Low of Doji should cross EMA In that case the Doji is also a lower low. There is no need that there is is lower low. In general. Is it possible to use the Study "Color Bar based on Alert..." for that purpose? Many thanks |

What you want to do is beyond the capability of Simple Alerts, but it could be done with a spreadsheet study.

Good Morning tomgilb, many thanks for your help. Spreadsheets are beyond my capability. I worked one time with a spreadsheet - a very simple spreadsheet - but in that case I can not imagine how this should work. Many thanks |

Attached is a spreadsheet file that will do this. Put it in your Sierra Chart \Data folder. Then do this: 1) Add the Spreadsheet System/Alert study -Set the Chart Region to 1 -Click on the Select button next to the Spreadsheet Name field and choose NickTrader -On the Subgraphs tab, set the Draw Style of 'Alert' to Color Bar, set all others to Ignore. The # of consecutive higher lows is set in cell P1 on the spreadsheet. You may minimize the spreadsheet. This setup will color the doji price bars according to your conditions listed in Post #1. You may set audible alerts in the spreadsheet study settings >> Settings and Inputs tab >> Column K Alert. Other alert settings are on the same tab. |

@tomgilb As you can see in the attached file (M1 - FDax) I got an Alert (red arrow). Your spreadsheet is really a good base to study. The formulas are similiar to excel and working with it is known :-) Many many thanks for your help. |
