Google Protocol Buffer Encoding will be added as a fourth encoding method for the DTC Protocol.

Google Protocol Buffers are gaining use in the financial information industry. The FIX protocol is also adopting the use of Google Protocol Buffers.

So we see it is important to support this with the DTC Protocol.

Yeah, good move too. It will remove the hassle to have to implement the custom binary protocol of DTC. I would probably have used them if there were available when I started.

The binary protocol is not so bad though.

Google Protocol Buffer encoding for the DTC Protocol will be available by the end of August 2015.

However, the Binary Encoding that the DTC Protocol uses is much more efficient CPU wise. And Binary Encoding with Variable Length Strings is compact with messages that use text strings.
