Hello, From time to time we do get requests on this support board relating to high CPU usage. Normally we refer users to help topic 30 for this: Http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/helpdetails30.html This identifies all of the known reasons for high CPU usage and sluggishness with charts. While Sierra Chart is a fast and efficient program, you can very well do things with it which will cause drastically high CPU usage and cause sluggishness with charts and momentary freezing. So you have to be careful with what you do. We have discovered another new item, which does have a drastic effect on the performance of charts and causes a very obvious sluggishness, to an extreme under certain cases. This is using graphics settings where the line style contains a dot and the line thickness is two or more pixels. This also includes study Subgraphs settings. This type of line is created using a geometric pen flag. If there are a lot of these lines drawn a chart, you will notice a drastically high amount of CPU usage. For example, using a grid that has a line thickness of two or more pixels and is dotted, will cause high CPU usage and make the chart sluggish when scrolling it. We have had some indication of what we describe above previously based on user feedback, but we did not realize the drastic performance effect that it has, until we experienced it ourselves. And were surprised to see this even with horizontal dotted lines. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. The above-described problem also occurs with >= 2 pixel dashed lines but to a significantly lesser extent.
