Hello,

Bill Williams Fractals study

Can someone help me figure out as to why some fractals are not showing up, the only settings I changed was the offset and color/size.

I grabbed the indicator explanation from another site and I glanced quickly at the SC code located in studies6.cpp.

Based on my non-exhaustive analysis of your chart, YOUR (expected) markers DO NOT conform to the explanation of the indicator.

Here is the explanation lift from elsewhere.
Fractal Technical Indicator it is a series of at least five successive bars, with the highest HIGH in the middle, and two lower HIGHs on both sides. The reversing set is a series of at least five successive bars, with the lowest LOW in the middle, and two higher LOWs on both sides, which correlates to the sell fractal. The fractals are have High and Low values and are indicated with the up and down arrows.

You are correct, they don't! I'm little stuck because I don't know how to code and for that reason I can't make the changes.

If the formula is a high with two lower highs on each side, and the opposite for lows, then this is easy to do with the Spreadsheet Study study.

Put both of the attached files in your Sierra Chart \Data folder, then click on Analysis >> 5-bar Fractals-
You can minimize the spreadsheet because there is no user interaction required.

If you don't use the study collection, you will not get the desired results, because it sets the correct options in the Spreadsheet study.

Tom,
Have you (or anyone else) successfully integrated this excellent fractal study with the zig-zag indicator? I am trying to develop a way to accurately determine the harmonic rotation for a product. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks and regards

M
