I have two charting computers and 2 copies of Sierra Charts that I currently subscribe to. One is for futures and has it's data feed thru my broker, and the other is Forex Pairs data feed direct from Sierra Charts. They are both paid subscriptions and I want to run each separately on their own dedicated computers. I have just downloaded Sierra Charts software onto my second computer, but it won't open. It is an old multi-screen computer running XP 32-bit that I have used for charting packages in the past no problems. Currently I have been running both my copies of SC on the one computer. 1 Am I able to run these two copies separately on two computers? 2 Any ideas why the newly downloaded and installed SC program won't open on Computer #2 3 Is there something I need to do in my computer that currently runs both programs to 'release' the second copy. (I have noticed that it annoyingly closes when I close my futures copy - as though the two are connected) Thankyou for any assistance. Peter |

You only need to pay for one Sierra Chart account and you can use it on 2 to 3 systems at a time. 1. Yes. 2. The problem with Sierra Chart on your other computer with it not starting up, is that you are probably using the version with Old Spreadsheets. Download the Sierra Chart version with New Spreadsheets since it does not depend on Microsoft's CLR. 3. This does not make sense. There is no such interaction between Sierra Chart instances on a system which would cause this. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Re 2 - this fixed my problem thankyou. Re 3 - I have taken a video screenshot of what happens to better explain the apparent link problem. In the 1st half of the video I open the 2 x SC programs in the order that I have found works (Broker data SC account first - then the SC Forex charts). And then I have closed the broker account only - and you will see in closing this, it automatically asks me to save and then closes the 2nd charts as well. You will then see that I open the SC Forex account charts 1st and then I open the broker data fed SC charts. But when I open it in this order, the charts for the futures account don't ever open at all. And again, when I close the futures account down, it again closes the Forex charts. |

We cannot view the video because we do not have a player for the xesc file extension. However, are you using the Sierra Chart provided by TransAct? If so, then apparently when closing the TransAct software that will close down one or more instances of Sierra Chart. That is a function of the TransAct software. Not Sierra Chart. The TransAct software also has the capability to open Chartbooks in Sierra Chart. Do not use that functionality and instead automatically set Sierra Chart to open your Chartbooks through Global Settings >> General Settings >> Files to Open on Startup. If you just rely on the functionality within Sierra Chart to use Sierra Chart, then this will remove the dependency on the TransAct software relating to charts and Chartbooks. Yes, I think I am using the SC provided by Transact (how do I know?) - for my futures charts. But the 2nd copy was setup/ subscribed to via Sierra Chart. I currently do set my Files to Open on Startup via the General settings as described, in both SC programs. Q1 Should I change the Data Files Folder address? (It's currently C:\SierraChart\SierraChartTransActMA\Data\) or will doing this lose access to the futures data? Q2 The 2nd Forex SC Data Files Folder address is C:\SierraChart2\Data\ - Is this OK? Q3 Is there a way to re-connect my Transact futures data to SC separately from the default that was set up originally from my broker - Infinity AT - so that it is not using the Transact software? (Or is the Transact DOM & chart data integrated within their software?) Thanks again |

You are definitely using Sierra Chart provided by TransAct. 2. Yes. 1,3. Install another copy of Sierra Chart in a different folder on your system. Here are instructions: Using Multiple Data and Trading Services at the Same Time: Step-By-Step Instructions to Install Multiple Copies of Sierra Chart Set it to use your TransAct account following the instructions here: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/TransAct.php#SetupInstructions Copy all the files from the C:\SierraChart\SierraChartTransActMA\Data\ folder to the Data Files Folder of the new installation so you have access to those files.
