I'm planning to get / build a new trading PC. Please send me a few thoughts / recommendations for the important parts. Here's an overview of my setup: - Windows 7 - 4x 22" monitors - 4 SC instances running at the same time; mostly 2-4 chartbooks / instance with 8-10 charts / chartbook (10 tick -> weekly) - 3x FXCM datafeed; 1x IB datafeed What's VERY important to me is, that the PC is quiet! Our recommendation is going to be to have a six core CPU. Preferably Intel. And use SSDs for sure. This is what we use on our Dell servers and those are extremely fast servers.

Ram is cheap these days, get 12GB or 16GB. Sierra Chart does not need this much, but this will allow your OS to cache a large part of the files used in RAM making things much faster.

Special requirements on the video cards? Do they have to be high end (gaming) cards?

I use two 40" LED tvs, less video card output crap to deal with though the resolution and picture quality will depend on the quality of the tv. One computer core i3, 16gb ram. Can watch around 8-12 charts reasonably well simultaneously - though lots more is possible depending on how little detail you're willing to suffer...make it quiet by turning off the case fans (except the cpu-fan) and turning up the air conditioning...
