Hi is there a way to speed up my data loading in my charts (when I increase number of days to load from say 30 to 300 it takes too long, like 2-4 seconds and it gets annoying when flipping through markets)? I have a new Dell PC 64bit Windows 7, 8GB ram and up to 2,5ghz processor i5 thank you! |

What makes the most dramatic difference is using a Solid State Drive if you are not already.

Hi, I replaced my HDD with an SSD now but the problem is still there. Is there any other advise please? Thank you. *Chart (240min / 90 days to load) of forex pair takes 5 seconds to load, and I am switching through 30 different markets to view for opportunities constantly - it really slows me down http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1472289769108.png and I am linking only symbol and scroll position. I also preopen a separate chartbook that has all these 30 markets opened so fresh data can be loaded into SC. I then close it. I assumed that flipping through markets would then make it easier since data is already "refreshed". Not sure if it is the right way to think though. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2016-08-27 09:25:24

This is the relevant help topic for this: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/helpdetails30.html#h30.12 We recommend setting the Intraday Data Storage Time Unit to 1 Minute. Be sure to follow the documentation. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Try to keep your questions brief and to the point. Hi, thank you for the sent link. I am having issues with this. When I click DTS and change Intraday Data Storage Time Unit to higher than 1 tick and click OK and restart SC the setting is not saved. When I reopen DTS after restart it says 1 tick again. Advise please, thank you. |

This is because you are using the Numbers Bars study: Numbers Bars Use the Intraday Data File Management feature to compress data older than one month to 1 Minute units: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/DataSourceSettings.php#DataFileManagement Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Honestly the best solution to this problem is to change the approach IMO. If you're commonly switching timeframes on the same chart (but perhaps with different symbols), duplicate the chart and set the duplicated chart to the alternate timeframe. Then just switch between the charts to change timeframes. This is massively faster than switching timeframes on the fly and the only cost you pay is on initial chart loading. |

Thank you SC team - it works perfectly. Thank you for a suggestion "i960", as well. |
