It seems that when using the standard 2 ticks per letter/block with DX (ICE dollar index) the rendering of the chart becomes very slow. When moving to 4 or even 8 it's much faster. Conversely, when using a 2 tick setting with something like $AUDNZD it's noticeably faster in rendering than the 2 tick setting with DX, which is strange. I am using continuous contracts but it's slow in non-continous mode. I've tried it with a DX profile for 1 day, 1 week, and 1 month ranges, it's the same effect every time - significant CPU usage when using 2 ticks per letter/block. Make sure the Tick Size is set correctly in Chart >> Chart Settings for the symbol.

Yep, it is: 0.005, which is correct for DX. I'm wondering if the large gap down that DX made last week might be causing an issue here. Any chance you could pull up a 2 tick per letter TPO on DX with 1 day interval and see if any slowdown is noticed? It's pretty substantial for me.

No problems. It is fast for us when scrolling this chart: http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1427100842439.png Are there any other studies on the chart and do you have any Chart Drawings on the chart. You can check for the chart drawings through Tools >> Manage Chart Drawings. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I think I've determined the correlation here. 1. There's no drawings whatsoever listed in manage chart drawings, and none visible aside from TPO and VP. 2. It's the volume profile that's causing the slowdown, and not TPO. 3. In addition to VP slowdown, in general, the use of transparent rendering causes it to be nearly twice as slow in rendering. I determined this by hiding the VP and noticing a big speedup, I then hid the TPO but unhid VP and the slowdown was back. The amount of slowdown is also directly controllable by number of ticks per letter/block - the lower the worse the slowdown. |

Yes. Definitely avoid the use of transparency. That will increase CPU load.
