Hi, Is there any option to replay the chart manually i.e. instead of selecting the speed for automatic replay, the chart can be forwarded one candle at the time by pressing some keys on the keyboard. This way one can back-test (taking trades) only when the candle has been painted to ascertain the viability of the method in a fast and relaxing manner. The above is available in many Forex charting packages from Meta-trader to ForexTester. The latter one is what I am toying with now but as it does not have Bid and Ask volume it is not useful for the "Future" back-testing for now. I suppose one can use the "Jump" option but that could only be used on timed (minute) charts and as the whole screen is repainted and the data loaded again it is very slow and distracting. I can only say that the above would increase manual back-testing efficiency substantialy. Kind regards |

I have wrote a program that reads a data file say TFZ4.scid and send the data to another one say TFH0.scid In SC I open TFH0. I can ask the program to update the data file to a particular date initially and then update it with a number of data that makes up one bar at a time with a key press, effectively replaying TFZ4 one bar at a time with a key press. The works fine and the generated file looks OK in SC and I can take trades. However, the bracket trades do not work i.e. the stop and targets although displayed on the chart are not acted upon also the "show order fill" do not work. Is there any option I can set to be able to do the above? |

Refer to this section here about why those orders may not be filling: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TradeSimulation.php#OrdersDoNotFill In regards to the order fills, check the Simulation Fills Source setting: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TradeMenu.html#SimulationFillsSource Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. If I use Ctrl-R simulation fill source changes to replay/back test source, otherwise it remains as simulation fills. when I replay (an earlier time) on TFH0 the Stop and Limits orders are working fine. But that is of no use to me, as it is the SC that is replaying. in Sim mode it is exactly the same, the trade gets filled but the Stop loss and Limit orders are not, please see the pictures In picture 1 the trade has been taken but the stop although shown is not activated. Picture 2 shows the "simulation fill source " windows. The only thing that I can think of is, that in simulation mode the Bid and Ask prices are coming from the data feeds, and in replay mode it is made up by SC. In the way I am trying to do there is not Bid or Ask price for the orders to get filled. If this is the case do you have a back test mode that they are available or can I set them through ASCIL? One further thing, on the replay panel if << and >> in the jump sub-panel did not initiate reloading the data and refreshing the screen (just forwarding the chart by the few required ticks as I am doing with my software) it would have been a nice manual replay for back testing timed chart. Thanks |

This is the problem: In the way I am trying to do there is not Bid or Ask price for the orders to get filled.
We do not have a solution for this. The jump forward button will not reload the chart. It only quickly advances the chart. We have confirmed this now.
