DOM price anomaly

Recently I've noticed something strange happening repeatedly with my Trade DOM window (I don't know if it's connected to me upgrading to the latest SC release version which I put off doing for some time. At random intervals the price jumps from (for example) 50.45 to like 510,000.00 for about half a second and then bounces back again. This is not in relation to the underlying quotes being displayed in so far as they remain stable at the correct market price and the scale itself just jumps really far away and then back again. Understandably the readout on the P&L column during this anomaly has nearly given me a heart-attack several times and I'm wondering what might be causing it. The scale is set to "Constant Range" without autocenter and there's only a VBP study with nothing else there to influence it. Any ideas what's going on as it's now happening every day throughout the day. Many thanks, |

The only cause of what you are describing is the data from the data feed. There can be no other possibility for this. What Data or Trading service are you using and what symbol? The Sierra Chart data feed, the broker is interactive brokers but the window has the [M] symbol on it as it should do. The symbol is CL-201503-NYMEX i.e. Nymex Crude Oil

We wonder if some of the data is still coming from the IB data feed. Select Window >> Current Quote Window. When you notice the problem do you see the last trade price change to this invalid value or something like that? Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I just checked as you described and no, the quote reads fine while the DOM jumps up there. Very odd.

But if you are seeing a major change in the Open Position Profit/Loss, there must be an invalid price received.

Nope, I didn't mention the P&L field in the trade window, it's the optional P&L column running along next to the price grid - simply showing what the P&L would be if the price was really trading up there.

It would help us if you could provide us a video showing this.

There is no need to provide further information. Another user has noticed this problem and provided a screenshot and we understand the problem partially but we are not sure why it is occurring. It is considered a high-priority issue to resolve.

This problem is solved now without needing a Sierra Chart update. It has been solved on the server side which will allow users to gradually update.
