Is there an existing study or a way to have the equivalent, to calculate the uptick and downtick to volume ratio? In other words, how much volume/market order does it take to make the price go up one tick and do down one tick at any given time?

Thanks crazy bear. This is bid vs ask volume, but what I am trying to highlight is how much volume it takes to uptick and to downtick..

This is the Spreadsheet Study study formula that replicates the Bid Ask Volume Ratio study when using an EMA: =((100*(AA3-AC3)/(AA3+AC3))-L4)*(2/(1+$L$1))+L4 where: the formula in is cell L3 AA3 is the Ask Volume study AC3 is the Bid Volume study L1 is the EMA length You could modify this formula to create a ratio between the Uptick Volume study and the Ask Volume study, e.g., or between any two volume studies.: Ask Volume Bid Volume Number of Trades - Ask Number of Trades - Bid Uptick Volume Downtick Volume Volume Attached is an example spreadsheet and study collection. Put both in your Sierra Chart \Data folder. On a blank chart, go to Analysis >> Buy Sell Ratios- |

Hi Dom! To get this sort of features, you have to compare the ask volume with the downtick volume or the bid volume with the uptick volume in order to obtain a delta which calculates for example the difference of these to kind of volume For example, if you have 200 ask market contract, and 100 bid market contract in a range barre, and then you have 150 uptick volume and 150 down tick volume in this same range barre ; you will get a "deltatick" of -50 : it means that 50 ask market contract have downticked the price inside of this range barre. You can do this with the "studie subgraph difference" to obtain a visuel representation of this ; then you can use an other tool that i can send to you to convert this visual information in numerical information on your footprint chart. |

This may not be exactly what you are looking for but look at the Up/Down Volume Ratio study: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TechnicalStudiesReference.html#s315 However, if you look at the source code for it, you can modify it to meet your requirements. Hi crazybears, We can do this too yes, the goal is to compare the "bid and ask market volume" with the "up and down tick volume". Then, you can compare it as you want to do |
