Below is an alert I built into color bar based on alert. When I put it into the alert, it is too long and only part of it shows. What is the answer =OR(AND(ID10.SG1>ID10.SG1[-1],ID6.SG1>ID6.SG1[-1],OR(ID10.SG1[-2]>ID10.SG1[-1],ID6.SG1[-2]>ID6.SG1[-1])),AND(ID10.SG1<ID10.SG1[-1],ID6.SG1<ID6.SG1[-1],OR(ID10.SG1[-2]<ID10.SG1[-1],ID6.SG1[-2]<ID6.SG1[-1])),AND(ID10.SG1>ID10.SG1[-1],ID4.SG1>ID4.SG1[-1],OR(ID10.SG1[-2]>ID10.SG1[-1],ID4.SG1[-2]>ID4.SG1[-1])),AND(ID10.SG1<ID10.SG1[-1],ID4.SG1<ID4.SG1[-1],OR(ID10.SG1[-2]<ID10.SG1[-1],ID4.SG1[-2]<ID4.SG1[-1])),AND(ID6.SG1>ID6.SG1[-1],ID4.SG1>ID4.SG1[-1],OR(ID6.SG1[-2]>ID6.SG1[-1],ID4.SG1[-2]>ID4.SG1[-1])),AND(ID6.SG1<ID6.SG1[-1],ID4.SG1<ID4.SG1[-1],OR(ID6.SG1[-2]<ID6.SG1[-1],ID4.SG1[-2]<ID4.SG1[-1]))) |

Hi, I encountered similar problem in January. One of the solutions was to use spreadsheet: Spreadsheet and ---Color Bar Based on Alert Condition--- study Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-11-09 23:40:02

Moonmist, I tried it in the spreadsheet and had the same issue. I used copy and paste and only part of it showed up in the spreadsheet alert. |

In this particular case you need to use the Spreadsheet System/Alert study: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_SystemsAlerts.php#GeneralInformation You just need to use one of the formula columns which would be K. Set the Draw Style for the K Subgraph/Column to Color Bar. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Hi, I tried it on an empty spreadsheet. No problem for the cut and paste. But it does give me an error of "Invalid Formula". |

You need to enter the formula on the Spreadsheet itself. You would not add it to the Alerts tab of the Study Settings window for the Spreadsheet System/Alert study. Refer to the documentation we linked to in the prior post. You will have to update the formula to work directly within a Spreadsheet. I talked to sawtooth and they don't want any more work. My condition is both a buy and sell condition. K in the spreadsheet is for buys so I don't know how to break up the formula to fit the condition on the spreadsheet versus the alerts |

Just in case you have not figured it out: a) You do not need to break up the alert condition formula. Just choose the same DrawStyle for column K as the one you choose in "Color Bar Based on Alert Condition". b) The major difference between the formula in the alert box and Spreadsheet is the way you reference the studies: In alert box, it is StudyID.SubgraphID[integer], where integer is usually not great than 0. In spreadsheet, it is ColumnNumberRowNumber, where RowNumber is an integer greater than 2. Just make the corresponding changes in referencing. Good Luck. PS: You do need to break up the alert formula into BUY and SELL section, if you intend to use the Spreadsheet for automated trading. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2014-11-10 13:35:15
