is there a way to configure an open trade to auto-close at the end of the current (or next) bar (via DOM strategy or on the fly) ?

Can create custom trading system that simply flattens and cancels any open positions and orders at the end of each bar. Not sure off hand about the next bar though, have to think about it.

i would like to manually enter the trade and then have it auto-close at the end of the current bar on the current chart according to its current periodicity. this could be volume-based or range based, for example. any advice is appreciated. thanks

This will simply flatten and/or cancel any open orders on bar close as desired. You need to test this thoroughly before going live and note that I have never actually used an automated trading system to send live orders, so you will need to thoroughly validate that this works correctly.
