Price Levels
The Price Levels study is a study which is meant for a trading educator to provide price levels to their users which are displayed as horizontal lines on a chart for a particular symbol and on specific days for that symbol.
It uses a web based control panel to set the levels and to authorize users for specific levels. If you are interested in using the study, you need to have one or more users of your price levels. Contact Sierra_Chart Support for setting this up.
To re-request the price levels data from the server at any time, go to the chart and select Chart >> Recalculate.
If you are an administrator of price Levels, then to set those price levels, go to the Manage Custom Studies DLL Users page and choose the price levels study name from the list. This will be the name that you gave to Sierra Chart support when the price levels administration for your account has been set up. On that page, click on Set Price Levels as shown below.
Inputs
- Request Interval in Minutes: The specifies how often in minutes, the price levels are automatically requested from the Sierra_Chart server.
- Use Time Range For Levels Request: When this Input is set to Yes, then the Request Start Time and Request End Time study Inputs apply and limit the requesting of price levels to the set time range.
- Time Range Time Zone: This sets the time zone for the Request Start Time and Request End Time Inputs.
- Request Start Time: When Use Time Range For Levels Request Input is set to Yes, then this specifies the starting time for the time range that price levels will be requested during.
- Request End Time: When Use Time Range For Levels Request Input is set to Yes, then this specifies the ending time for the time range that price levels will be requested during.
- Alternate Symbol: When the price levels are requested, the symbol will be the symbol of the chart. This is an optional Input to change the symbol to the specified symbol.
It is recommended, that a provider of price Levels always uses a consistent symbol with specifying levels and has users specify that same symbol in Alternate Symbol. The reason this is important to use a single unified symbol is that every supported Data and Trading service uses different symbol formats, so it is necessary to use one common format for price levels that is specified through Alternate Symbol. - Request Identifier: This is a required identifier used when requesting price levels from the web server. The web-based control panel where the price levels are set, uses this very same text identifier to associate the price levels with a name.
