I use a sell limit order (without an attached order) to get into a trade, the trade moves in my favor (say, 20 ticks), so I want to use a buy limit order at the same price as my entry price. When I click on the DOM to establish that order, it flattens the trade. Where would I look to fix this? Thanks! |

You are setting a Buy Limit order at a price above the current market price. The exchange sees the current market price as a better price than where the limit order is set, therefore it fills immediately. To do what you are wanting, you need to put the "Buy" order in as a "Buy Stop-Limit". When you place an order on the DOM, it automatically selects the right order type, right?

No, not at all. The order type is defined by how you are entering the order. If you are clicking in the Buy/Sell columns, then the particular action that is taken is defined the settings as outlined at the following documentation: Global Trade Settings Windows: Order Types (Global Settings >> Chart DOM Settings) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Exactly my point. This is how it's supposed to work. One one install of SC, this is how it works, but on another install, it doesn't - it flattens the position. My question is, what do I look for to tell the difference?

What exactly are you getting on one install and what exactly are you getting on the other? Are you getting different order types when you perform the action you are doing?
