Numbers Bar chart automatically widens padding between rectangles

For some reason on a Numbers bars chart (pls refer to attached pic), sometimes the padding will automatically widen between the bars(rectangles). What setting is it that to keep the spacing between bars always constant? Very annoying to see.

That is a scaling issue. There is nothing you can do about it. You just have to adjust the vertical scale range to where the rectangles are aligned how you want them.
