I want to try to resolve this once and for all.

I am currently running version 997 and I use IQ Feed.

I generally look at my charts approx between 5-6pm NYC which is 7-8am Brisbane.

I have 2 charts which I will post below which shows QGC# historical daily chart.

Both screen shots were taken approx 610pm NYC Tuesday Evening/ 810am Brisbane Wednesday Morning

So first screen shot shows NYC time zone -

As you can see, a new bar hasnt been started for the evening session, but it has continued live pricing on the old bar.

If you look at the second screen shot, which is Brisbane time zone, you can see that a new bar has been correctly created for the evening session (NYC Time that is) and it also shows the correct settle price for the previous days bar.

The problem I get with using local time (Brisbane) is that on some symbols I get a double up of bars. For the current day I get 2 bars instead of one on some symbols and it drives me crazy. Symbols such as @TFS# @DX# QCL# QRB# QHO# etc etc

And the problem as mentioned above using NYC is that I am not getting a new bar for the new session.

Please help

Thanks

Go to Global Settings >> Symbol Settings and make sure you have set the Intraday Session Times for QGC# as documented in section 12.6 here:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/helpdetails12.html#12.6

We are familiar with your requirements, and this new feature was developed specifically for you many months ago and it is believed to work correctly. We are not aware of any problems with it. So you should definitely be able to accomplish what you require with it.

If you have difficulty please let us know what the Intraday Session Times are in the Global Symbol Settings for the symbol.

Thank you so much for this fix, somehow i missed that this change had been made.

So I have now changed my time zone in data/trade service settings to New York and changed all my global symbol settings>intraday to New York and the relevant session start times and end times in that time zone for each future symbol that i use and all seems to be working well.

Had to add a few futures symbols that were not listed such as heating oil, platinum, etc etc but that was pretty easy.

So a question in regards to day light saving - will these intraday start and finish times need to be adjusted?

Also, when I am using SC Forex Data (FXCM) with NYC time zone, will I need to set all the time zones to NYC and intraday session times for the forex symbols?

Also, in regards to historical daily data service settings - I have mine set on >use primary service server and the historical download time set at 5:40pm. Is this ok?

Thanks very much

For daylight savings, no changes are required.

In the case of SC Forex Data (FXCM) use New York time zone for the Intraday Session Times.

The Historical Daily Data Download time sounds correct.
