Earlier Today my system went on standby and then I received this message:

NOTICE: Detected that the system has resumed from a low-power state. | 2013-07-09 08:23:16
Re-connecting to the data or trading service... | 2013-07-09 08:23:16
Disconnected from CTS T4. | 2013-07-09 08:23:17
Will reconnect to the server in 5 seconds. Select File >> Disconnect to prevent further connection attempts. | 2013-07-09 08:23:17
Failed to login to CTS T4. Reason: UnexpectedDisconnect | 2013-07-09 08:23:17
CTS T4 Service: Exception caught while processing a T4 event. Object reference not set to an instance of an object. | 2013-07-09 08:23:17

I had never seen the last two statements before on the above message and I am wondering if that is something to be concerned with.

Also is first statement of the next message typical when the system goes on standby or should I be concerned by it:

HTTP request #1 returned the following error: Windows error code 12007: The server name or address could not be resolved | 2013-07-09 11:32:35
NOTICE: Detected that the system has resumed from a low-power state. | 2013-07-09 11:32:36

It has long been recognized, that Windows and some other programs that run on Windows, not referring to Sierra Chart, have trouble when coming off standby. Do not use standby. You may very well have problems, like you have, that we have no control over.

This is a concern, if the message continues to be reported.

Could this issue affect the Sierra Chart Software or the data I download from CTS? If it does could simply deleting and downloading the data again and upgrading the software eliminate any problems there may be with the data or the software from the standby instances?

Additionally the message:

HTTP request #1 returned the following error: Windows error code 12007: The server name or address could not be resolved | 2013-07-09 11:32:35

shows up often but not all the time when my system goes on standby. Otherwise it never gets reported if there is no standby. Would the suggestion mentioned above take care of my data and/or software issues, if there are any at all?

Thanks

Just don't use stand-by without exiting SC first. Simple as that.

I apologize for the miscommunication. Obviously I won't be using standby anymore while Sierra Charts is running. My questions in my last post were directed toward the past standby instances. I wanted to know if those could affect how my Sierra Chart runs now and the data that was downloaded to it back then during the standby instances and if I could eliminate those problems, if there are any at all, by upgrading the software and deleting and downloading the data again.

I don’t believe the past standby instances could affect how the software runs now, but I want to be sure.

The data on the other hand, I have a feeling might be bad and I want to know if what I mentioned above would suffice. There has not been anything in the log, but several times before, completely unrelated to this issue, when there were mismatches with volume on Sierra Charts and T4 there was nothing in the log either.

Additionally I should only be concerned of the below message if it pops up during normal operation? Or should I be concerned that it popped up often during the past standby instances?

HTTP request #1 returned the following error: Windows error code 12007: The server name or address could not be resolved | 2013-07-09 11:32:35

Sorry to butt into your support thread... regarding the CTS volume; T4 desktop can use the fast buffer data feed only if subscribed to the pro-package otherwise T4 will use normal buffering. SC always uses fast buffer, afaik.

Sierra Chart Support,

I have not received any response from you for my questions for the last several days. Please answer my questions so I can better understand the Sierra Charts.

If you question the historical data, then definitely re-download it.

Sierra Chart will not be affected by standby. The T4 software could be, but not permanently. Sierra Chart does link with the T4 software. You might want to restart Sierra Chart after coming off standby because of that. Support for CTS FIX is almost ready, so you can begin to use that in the next couple of days. This kind of connection will not be affected by standby. Other than being disconnected but that would be expected.

This is a concern if it happens at times other than standby.
