Hi, I have Sierra charts with infinity data. Every afternoon the data turns off and back on, and my sierra charts always reconnected. But lately I seem to find it disconnected late in the afternoon. Is there something that I can check that could have gotten changed? The most recent things that happened are that I think I opted to upgrade Sierra last week and I think infinity asked for an upgrade? Thanks Alan |

Please contact your broker about this. TransAct is responsible for the reconnection in this case. They are signaling a disconnect but telling us not to reconnect.

I find it interesting that the issue with reconnect has to do (according to Josh at infinity) with something to do with a protocol change on your end, but you direct me to them? I believe the change was the end of last month. GSP https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_GeneralDataTradeServiceProtocol.php Either way, you couldn't give a straight answer. The initial query pointed to the data reconnect function in Sierra. Nothing to do with Infinity. Don't you know this? At any rate, now I have to go downstairs every day to "reconnect" data, like I used to with IB before I changed to infinity. I had to physically do that anyway, but the issue in general was that the back fill did not work right, especially with tics. That data had to be collected live. Josh seems to believe that now, if I just turned my computer on at any time, that the backfill would be correct. Is this true? |

We are forwarding this over to the engineer at TransAct. They are giving a disconnect signal and instructing us not to reconnect. We do not want to deviate from the protocol. The historical Intraday data with TransAct is very reliable. Anytime there is a connection to the TransAct system, the historical data is reliably downloaded. In our prior response, we were not completely clear as to the details. TransAct has indirect control over the reconnection by certain flags that can be set in some messages they send over the GSP connection. So they can direct Sierra Chart to reconnect by disconnecting and not setting a flag to not reconnect. Since Sierra Chart will reconnect when the connection to the server is lost.
