I have set TIF for both entry order and attached orders in the Trade Window to GTC, but for some reason they all reach IB's TWS as Day Orders. I have the feeling I'm missing something elementary, but I can't figure it out. Do you have any suggestion? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2015-07-27 20:43:30

Most likely you are setting these on the wrong Trade Window. Refer to the documentation here for this: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TradeWindow.html#SettingsNotApplying Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Well, at first I thought that couldn't be right because I have only one Trade Window. But I think it is right in the end. The problem seems to be that I was entering orders with the Trade DOM under the impression that the Trade Window I had open for the chart was setting the parameters for the DOM order -- which it did without any problem, until I tried to get GTC orders. I finally realized that the GTC orders worked if I used the Trade Window to place the orders but not if I used the Trade DOM. Opening the Trade DOM and using the Trade Window that opens with the DOM solves the problem of getting GTC orders placed using the DOM, from which I infer that the Trade Window for the DOM is not the same as a Trade Window for the Chart. As far as I can tell, this is not explicitly stated in the documentation; so (assuming I'm correct about it) you might want to state it clearly for somewhat slow learners like me. |
