Blink Looks like a very good specification. The data format used by GSP is very similar. In the case of text strings, we use fixed length strings. Possibly making them variable length by prefixing the string with its size can be a good idea, but it is more convenient to use a fixed size data structure being that strings are not sent in high-frequency messages.
