We would not say there is a lot of disk activity. However, as real-time market data is received it is written to files periodically but that interval is controllable: Advanced Service Settings: Intraday File Flush Time in Milliseconds (Global Settings >> Advanced Service Settings >> Other) The default is every 10 seconds.
