I'm assuming you are using the Volume Per Bar as the Bar Period Type so you are getting a bar printed for X amount of volume that you set Bar Period Value to. Let's say you set Bar Period Value to 1000, then you're getting a new bar printed after 1000 volume has traded. So to get a counter, first you add the Volume study to the chart. It will show you equal volume bars per chart bar. Then you add the study called Text Display for Study, and you configure its settings to display the SG1 subgraph from the Volume study and now it will display the volume of the current bar as it counts up to 1000. Then you can hide the Volume study as it is not needed on your chart. See attached image. If you are using the Number of Trades per Bar as the Bar Period, you can achieve the same but instead use the Number of Trades study instead of Volume study.
