Typically this means that your Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Main Settings >> Current Selected Service is set to SC Data - All Services and not your trading service. Therefore, you are not able to actually place a trade since you are not connected to your trading account, which is why the system puts you back into Simulation Mode. What trading service do you use so we can point you to the proper instructions.
