Connection problem with main instance of SC

Good morning,

I started running a second instance of SC on the same PC. I followed the procedure as explained here:

Using DTC Server for Data and Trading in Another Sierra Chart Instance

and disabled the DTC protocol Sever on the second instance as suggested.

Out of the blue, the main instance of sierra disconnected and cannot reconnect anymore, while the second instance stays connected.

I tried to close the 2nd instance but nothing changes. I closed also the main instance and opened it again but nothing, it cannot connect any longer.

I then tried to check the ports between the instances and they are already different between the two.

I've attached the Message Log for further inspection.

Can you please help me?

Thanks in advance, Fabio

We are not understanding the particular situation you have setup.

We see the following error in your log:
DTC Client socket (1) | Connect event error. Windows error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. *

We need to understand how you have things setup, as it seems as though there is a conflict somewhere.

Hey John,

Thanks for your reply.

For unknown reason, but luckily for me, the day after I send the request for help it magically resolved itself. I just turned my trading station back on and voilĂ , problem disappeared and connection re-established, exactly in the same way the problem started.

I now have 4 different instances of SC running at the same time by following the same procedure as in the aforementioned link, disabling the DTC protocol on all but the parent (main) instance of SC and it seems everything working just fine.

However, just to give you a better understanding of how I set things up, I opened the main instance of sierra and then went to >>File >>New instance.

Once the new instance started, I went to >>Global setting >>SC server setting>> Enable DTC protocol server to "NO". (On instance #2)

After having done that, I went back on the parent (main) instance of SC and I went to >>General setting >>General>> Always copy configuration files to new instances when started and set to "NO".

I suppose I did everything right since everything works just fine, or did I do something wrong?

Thanks,

Fabio

If everything is fine with the connections now there is nothing to be concerned with.
