How can I add a simple volume study to the main chart region 1 but only using the lower 20% of the main chart height? Currently when I add the volume study to chart range 1 it will be drawn to the full height of region 1. |

The only way to do this would be to turn on the "Left Side Scale" and set the Volume study to use the left side scale. Then you can adjust the scaling using that left side scale. You can remove the left side scale after you get the scaling as you want. Refer to the following: Chart Settings: Use Left Side Scale (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Scale menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Thanks John, that works when only one study is on the LH scale. But I also have a moving average on the volume which needs to scale in sync with the volume. In my tests I see that only the first study reacts to to scale range adjustments made on the LH scale range. e.g. study order 1 Volume .. 2 Mov Avg -> Volume will be adjusted, Mov Avg does not change study order 1 Mov Avg ... 2 Volume -> Mov Avg will be adjusted, Volume does not change I think that is kind of a bug, all studies which are assigned to the LH scale should adjust along with it. Based on your suggestion, the best I could come up so far is to use a user defined range and keep it in sync between the two studies. But every time the chart changes its bar period e.g. going from 2 minutes chart to 10 minute chart, the user ranges will have to be adjusted on all LH scale studies for a reasonable representation. |

This is not a bug. Only one study can be controlled with the Left-Hand Scale. You really need to use a different region for the Volume and Moving Average study. That is the only way to get what you want. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Then it should be clearly stated in the documentation that only one study should be assigned to the LH scale, because any additional studies will not match the scale depending on settings. As an enhancement proposal I'd suggest to: 1. provide a percentage based range / padding setting to squish a study to a max percentage of the range. e.g. place volume study into the lower 10% of assigned range. as long associated studies have the same % value they will stay properly in sync. 2. at least tie all studies which are assigned to the LH scale so that they respect the shown scale. Anyhow thanks for your feedback and explanation |
