Hi, I want to minimize the file size that SC needs to handle. To make that happen I changed value in settings for a chart under data limiting to load max 3 days in case an intraday chart. This does not work to me as when I delete scid file for a symbol and run Sierra Chart again it downloads everything from the beginning of that symbol. Can you please advice what can be done to limit the amount of data being downloaded and displayed by SC? Thanks in advance! |

Keep in mind that setting only applies to Intraday charts, so files with a .scid extension. This does not apply to Historical data files (.dly extension) which are used with daily and higher timeframe charts. These historical charts are going to download all of the historical daily data available. Otherwise, what you are doing is correct. But you also need to ensure that your "Days to Load for Intraday Chart" is set to 3 or less. Otherwise, this could cause more data to be downloaded. Refer to the following: Chart Settings: Days to Load for Intraday Chart Data Type (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Data Limiting >> Load Data Limiting Method: Days to Load menu) Also, make sure you are not using a Continuous Futures Contract, or this could also cause more data to be downloaded. Refer to the following: Chart Settings: Continuous Contract (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
