[User Discussion] - What is the best way to limit CPU usage during chartbook loading?

Preliminary remark:
With this post I do NOT complain about the SC CPU usage!!

I do NOT have a CPU utilization problem during normal operation.

I do experience 100% CPU usage during opening of a chartbook with many charts and large amounts of data to be loaded.
NOTE: I do NOT complain about this!! I DO know why this is the case and I DO know how I could reduce the load time, etc etc... There is NO NEED to lecture me on this!

What I would like to do is limit the CPU usage during the chartbook opening to e.g. 90%.
The limitation could be temporarily (e.g. applied only during the chartbook opening), or permanently (as during normal operation the CPU usage never reaches significant levels on my system).

Questions:

1. Is there any way to DIRECTLY limit CPU utilization by using any SC application settings?
(I suppose not, but I may have overlooked something.)

2. What is the recommended way (if any) to limit the SC CPU utilization by use of Operating System means/tools for
a) Linux+wine
b) Windows
respectively?

1. No.

2. We do not know the answer to this. We have set this as a User Discussion for others to respond.

@User512353,

Have you tried both in Linux and Windows? Do they all have
high CPU usages during Sierra opening?

@Toni

I am currently only using Linux/wine.
Windows may be a future option.

yeah, same here, 2 computers, Linux Mint and Manjaro, but I only have one chart and 3 studies loaded, my CPU usage for Sierra is always below 10% during loading, not sure how many charts and studies you have.

Linux Mint allows to set a ceiling for CPU clock speed, but not the CPU usage for each program.
