I have been trying for some time now to increase the width of the candlewicks in Global Settings -> Graphic Settings Global -> Bar High-Low Up / Bar High-Low Down as you described, but whatever value I enter there: Nothing happens! The wicks remain as narrow as before. What am I doing wrong?
Many thanks for your help in advance.

Those are the right color/width settings.

Make sure you are making the change in the correct Graphics Settings window:
Graphics Settings

There are two of them.

I'm sorry, but it's still not working. What exactly does that mean: "There are two of them"
Two "Graphic Settings"? I can only find one: "Graphic Settings Global". Or do you mean by "two of them" that it is "Bar High-Low Up / Bar High-Low Down" I know that and when I enter a value there for "Bar High-Low Up" (e.g. 40) and click on "Apply" and "O.K.", unfortunately nothing happens. I'm very sorry to have to ask again, but I just can't get this supposedly simple setting to work.

There are two areas to set Graphics Settings. A global one (Global Settings >> Graphics Settings) and a chart specific one (Chart >> Graphics Settings). On the chart graphics settings there is an option to use the Global Graphics settings or the Chart Graphics settings. Refer to the following:
Graphics Settings: Using Different Color and Graphics Settings for Specific Charts

Since you are making changes on the Global Graphics Settings and this is not making a change, then you would need to change these on the Chart Graphics Settings.
