is it possible to use some Study in Sierra to display the current value of the VIX on the chart? just the number e.g. 50 is the VIX part of the free data that comes with all Sierra packages? I don't mind if it is delayed 15 minutes. |

In order to display the value of something as just the number on a chart, you would use the "Text Display from Study" or the "Text Display from Study for Chart" study. Refer to the following: Text Display For Study But, we do not have the VIX index data available as delayed data. The only way to get the VIX index data is to activate the "CBOE Global Indices" exchange and get the real-time data. The cost for this exchange is $6.00 per month. To set this up, follow these instructions: Denali Exchange Data Feed: *Setup Instructions: All Other Exchanges* We do have delayed streaming data for the VIX Futures from the CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE). Not that this is the tradeable futures, not the actual Index. They should track together fairly well, but they are different. You will find the symbol for this data on the "File >> Find Symbol" window under "Futures - CFE". For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
