From an old version to V2275, seems like you cautioned someone to first go to 1 or 2 intermediate versions (like 2040, or 2140), or the upgrade to V2272+ would not work correctly? I'm trying from V1991. When I tried to come part-way, like V2140 today, the installer would not accept any older version as "specific version".-- due to incompatibility. I know I read a suggestion to go in steps, but I can't find it. Please bring us up to date whether such steps are still required. I'm hoping V2275 does not cause the constant recalculation problem that the "improved" V2008 recalculation routine caused me on that attempt (I think due to many interconnected charts flowing in a funnel manner, fine-timing at avg 280 msec). I had to tune some calc. times to get a couple of charts to stop recalc in V1991, but nothing would get V2008 or V2010 to stop recalculating (even though I have no #Circular logic problems present)). I'm gonna try your newest to see that has the same "improved" revised recalculation routine, or it works any better than the V2008. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-06-18 22:34:31

Would you be able to provide us a simple as possible Chartbook, to demonstrate the " constant recalculation problem" . So we can see what is causing it and confirm what exactly is happening in your case. And your belief as to why there is a problem, is just your belief. For example, this is not some kind of an improvement. We do not even know what the problem is in your case. It is unknown. We do not think you would be having any problem upgrading from version V1991 to the current version. And at most, the only potential issue would be with some settings, very few, where they might be in the default state. That would be the only potential issue. Upgrade to V2276 seems to be going well, after fast, easy recompile of my one custom study. We can breathe easy. Whatever caused constant recalc before compile has cleared up; SC behavior is approximately the same as excellent V1991. Although I get about 4 or 5 sets of recalculations (lots), each about 4 seconds, upon opening and on start SIM (or jump back/forward), that may be normal with so much data back and forth between charts in my complex system. I will look for clarification of triggers of those messages, issued by "Overlay Study" study, right? I apologize for taking your time before I completed compile and testing, The constant recalc I saw Friday evening before compile looked like behavior I got around V2010. I hid the 2 intermediate premature, irrelevant posts, As you suggested to watch for, I have not seen any settings changed to default, so far. V2276 seems to run about as fast as V1991, on Win 7 64-Pro. Hopefully V2276 will read Historical daily bars again from CQG, unlike V1991. We appreciate your good, hard work. V2276 FYI: Update & Testing Complete, Live trading smooth and fast. Speed appears slightly better, on chart updating; most subgraphs moving a bit faster. One slight problem: the time ratio setting on SIM occassionally would not allow change, such as from 1.00 to .40. It would jump to .01, and keep refilling that, writing over what's typed. It may have been because first major run after update and needed restart. This was NOT during start-up 2 minutes, but SIM running normally for over 1 hour. Will let you know if recurs. Daily history bars and today-bar build: adequate. I've stuck with Win 7 64 Pro, can be cleaned to 32 processes (with 2 security monitors running, nothing updating, no telemetry nor Cortana, etc..) Win 10 ran slight slower for me. Worst: ridiculously large headers/borders for touch screens-- ruined layouts, wasted screen space. A border fixer utility could not reduce header. Win 7 Pro still gets security updates-same as Win 10. |

Final on V2276 upgrade/testing: Wow. V2276 is faster. Unless you changed the method of determining study calculation times-- My studies, each, including the custom, show about 1/3 the msec time of that before. I can see faster calcs on spreadsheets, and slight faster chart updates. Impressive. |
