Any method to have the Daily OHLC start at a time later than the chart session start time?

Hi, I trade equities and Previous Day High and Previous Day Low are important levels to watch. However, values from the previous day "premarket" (anything before 9:30 AM EST) are never used by traders in establishing that day's High and Low. I'm running into a problem because I need to start my chart session time at 4AM so I can see the current day premarket trading. When I apply the Daily OHLC study (reference 1 day back), It will calculate the Previous Day low starting from my 4AM EST chart session start time, whereas I need it to start from 9:30 AM EST. Is there a way around this issue or perhaps is there another indicator that might accomplish this goal of obtaining the previous day high and low starting at a time that is later than the chart's session start time? |

Use Day Session Only doesn't work?

I do use day session. Unfortunately, I need to set my day session as 4:00 - 16:00 so that I can trade premarket (4AM - 9:30 AM EST for US Equities). Unfortunately, doing so makes the Daily OHLC use 4AM as the beginning time when I set it to graph the previous day high/lo versus the 9:30 AM beginning time that is needed.

Can't you set your day session to 9:30-16:00 and use evening session set to 4:00-9:29?

Refer to this Input (Use Day Session Only) with this study: Daily OHLC: Inputs You need to set the Evening Session Times to be the premarket hours. Thank You both for the suggestion. It solves the problem I originally posted but unfortunately introduces a new problem for the VWAP indicator I use. To make a long story short, I trade equities from premarket to afterhours which basically is 4:00 - 20:00 EST. I found that setting the current session = 9:30 - 16:00 and extended session = 16:01 - 9:29 results in the indicator I use for VWAP incorporating data from the previous day afterhours into the current day VWAP. Anyways, the solution did work for the Daily OHLC problem I originally posted but unfortunately opens up a new issue with VWAP. At this point, I think I will fall back to the method of having a secondary chart set up with the Daily OHLC study and set to session = 9:30 - 16:00 . Then I can use the study "Study/Price Overlay" to import the wanted previous day Hi/Lo onto my primary chart. Not really the way I wanted to do it, but it works all the same. Thanks again. |
