Is there a way to copy and paste drawing objects between charts or chart books?

Hi,

I'm wondering if there is a function to copy and paste drawing objects from one chart to another chart or chart book?

Any help would be great.

Selecting the destination charts is the mystery here. There's no box to fill and no discussion of how to designate a destination chart.

Yes there is. The documentation here explains how to do this,
Copying Chart Drawings from Other Charts Automatically

You go to the destination chart and this is the Chart Setting for this:
Chart Settings: Copy Chart Drawings from Chart #'s (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Drawings menu)

I re-read and studied this documentation you've linked half a dozen times before my previous comment. I apologize for being a slow learner, but as best I can determine, although the term "destination chart" has been mentioned there, this patient response of yours is the very first time anyone has indicated that we need to START this process FROM the "destination" chart.
