Whenever I open up a historical chart from a chartbook it only shows a couple bars back. For example my Yearly chart only goes 2. And when I try to open a new chart I only have a black screen.

Cy, you need to give more information--how can anyone help with so little to go on? What is the symbol, what version of SC, who is your data provider, what are your "Historical Data Service Settings" under "Data/Trade Service settings", what are your chart settings (symbol, days to load, etc.)?

Could you let us know what symbol you are charting. We need to know what symbol you are using when you get a blank chart.

You may want to use a Continuous Futures Contract chart. Refer to the documentation here:

6E is an incomplete symbol. If you are only specifying part of the symbol, what is the complete symbol?

You can find the complete symbols in File >> Find Symbol.

Yes, this does make sense. You need to use the Continuous Futures Contract option:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_ContinuousFuturesContractCharts.html

Be sure to carefully follow through all of the instructions.

For a Historical Daily chart, the easiest thing to do is to use the symbol E6#
