I am in Thailand and have my SC time zone setting at local time here, so too my computer clock. Since I now have a dedicated computer for trading, I am thinking of changing the clock setting to New York time, and selecting the appropriate time zone in SC. From what I have seen in the documentation, data in the files is time stamped to GMT. 1)Am I correct that changing the time zone settings and computer clock as detailed above will not have an adverse effect on my data files? 2)As it stands, all my High/Low for Time Period studies have to be adjusted twice a year in Spring/Fall. If I make the time change, would this mean I no longer need to make the adjustments? When I capture data for say 9.30 - 10.00 a.m. ET, that does not change with the seasons, but the relationship between ET and GMT does. I need to understand how SC handles time changes, since data is time stamped in GMT and the relationship between GMT and ET changes with the seasons. Thailand has no seasonal time change, so the only reason for the adjustments so far has been the relationship between ET and local time here. Would appreciate advice, I do not want to make the change and create a colossal mess with my data and studies. |

1. Yes. This will have no effect. 2. You have a good understanding of this. You are in a better position to answer this yourself because we do not know what markets you are following and exactly what you are doing. You are not going to create any problems with changing time zones. All data is time stamped to GMT. You only need to make certain that your computer clock is set accurately, if there is a dependency on it for time stamping based on the particular Data/Trade service you are using.
