Was wondering why the TIF is chosen arbitrarily to be "Day" and if this is customizable.

It does not make sense to use any other Time in Force other than "Day" with a market order since it will fill immediately.

TIF for Market orders makes no sense at all actually. It should be Unset.

In our experience this is a required field when working with FIX protocol implementations even for Market orders. In the case of a Market order, your server can just simply ignore Time in Force if it is not relevant. |

This is from the FIX protocol documentation: 59 TimeInForce char
Specifies how long the order remains in effect. Absence of this field is interpreted as DAY. |
