In the case where a DTC server supports multiple exchange backends so that it enables the trader to take positions on multiple exchanges, what should I do in case of failure of one exchange ?

Clearly, I'm not going to reject the position request since I have available positions at other exchanges.

I guess I'm going to send the positions that I have, but I have no means to notify the client that a particular exchange has failed to provide positions.

Is this correct ?

This requires some thought.

We also do not think a rejection is an appropriate solution.

What we think is best is to send through a USER_MESSAGE message to the client indicating the condition of Position data unavailability for a particular exchange.

And then when the Positions become available for the exchange, send through POSITION_UPDATE messages.
